India vs New Zealand: India pacer Mohammed Shami struck in his very first delivery of the ODI World Cup 2023. Shami had been sitting on the sidelines in the first four matches of the tournament, and returned to the team in Dharamsala to play New Zealand.
India pacer Mohammed Shami made a triumphant return to the Indian team. Shami, who had been sidelined for the first four matches of the ODI World Cup 2023, picked a wicket on his very first delivery of the tournament.
Shami, bowling in the 9th over of the match, knocked over opener Will Young to hand India their second wicket of the match. Shami bowled his delivery on the hard length. The pacer nipped the ball slightly into the right hander, which caught him off guard. The ball struck the inside edge of the bat and crashed into the off stump, dismissing the batter.
